June 26, 2015

Today was an easy day.  Got up early, as always and saw a beautiful sunrise off our patio.

After breakfast we headed out to catch the cog railroad train that took us from Domodossola to Lacarno Switzerland.

We walked around Locarno and had lunch close to the lake.

We had plenty of time for shopping and walking around town.  The girls had to have time to play on the playground.

We caught the ferry that would take us back to Stressa in time for a late dinner. I think we wore Enrico completely out.

After dinner we had a night cap at a little bar on the lake.  We couldn't stay very long because the mosquitos were so bad.

Tomorrow we get up early and head to the airport so it is time to say goodbye from your Taste of  Italy crew
Doron, Enrico, Phyllis & Harriet.  Hope you will join us on another trip.

Thursday, June 25

Again we all piled into the bus and this time we headed west to visit Milanwhere we visited the Galleria, the Duomo and the Castle of Milan

The high point of the visit to Milan was the opportunity to view Leonardo Da Vinci's Last Supper.

We had to form several groups since only so many people are allowed in at a time and the time is limited.
We then bussed to the resort town of Stressa on Lake Maggiore for our last two nights in Italy.  Our hotel was the Hotel La Palma on the lake. This was the best hotel in the whole trip!!!

Wednesday, June 24

After breakfast at the Hotel Antony Palace in Macon, close to Venice we took a boat into the city for a day of sightseeing.

We visited the Cathedral of St Mark

Our second stop was the Doge's Palace

The group decided they wanted to take a Vaparetto

 to the glass factory

We also had free time  and some of the group decided to take a ride on a gondola.

We had dinner on our own and our Italian guide took us to a nice little restaurant off the beaten path.

we returned by boat to our bus and then to our hotel

Tuesday, June 23

It was "Arrivederci Montecantini" as we again packed our luggage and headed east to the ancient city of Ravenna.

This city is so old no one knows for sure when it was founded.  Some say it may predate Rome as an Etruscan city.  We saw some amazing mosaics which are one reason Ravenna has been declared a UNESCO world heritage site.

After seeing these amazing pieces of art we separated for lunch.  Some of us found a grocery store and had lunch on a picnic bench. Then it was off to to our hotel, the Antony Palace in  Macon Venice for dinner and overnight.
